If you're looking for something a little different to do while you're in the Broken Bow area, Beavers Bend Safari Park is a fun stop for families. It’s just a short drive from Beavers Bend State Park and Broken Bow Lake, and it’s one of those activities that kids talk about long after the trip is over!
Instead of walking through a zoo, you stay in your car and slowly drive through the park while animals roam freely around you. Along the way you might see zebras, bison, llamas, longhorn cattle, and other animals wandering right up to the road.

One of the best parts is feeding the animals. You can buy feed when you arrive, and before long you’ll probably have a few curious animals coming up to your window hoping for a snack. Kids usually love this part — and it definitely makes for some good photos.
The drive itself doesn’t take very long, usually around 30–45 minutes depending on how many animals you stop to watch along the way. It’s an easy activity to fit into a day of exploring the area.

For a truly unique experience, Beavers Bend Safari Park also offers a special rhino encounter tour. This behind-the-scenes experience gives visitors the chance to get much closer to one of the park’s most impressive animals—the rhinoceros. During the tour, guides share interesting facts about rhinos, their habits, and conservation efforts while you observe them up close in a safe, guided setting. It’s a memorable opportunity to see such a massive and fascinating animal from a perspective you wouldn’t normally get, and it’s especially exciting for kids and animal lovers alike. For many visitors, the rhino encounter ends up being one of the most unforgettable moments of their trip to the park.

Don't miss the walk-through area where you can see smaller animals up close. As you stroll through the exhibit, you might spot lemurs, baboons, otters, capybara, kangaroos, porcupines, and giant tortoises. The area is designed so you can walk at your own pace and watch the animals play, climb, and interact with each other. The monkeys and lemurs are often the most entertaining, but many visitors are surprised by how fun it is to see animals like kangaroos or otters up close as well. It’s a nice break from the drive-through portion of the park and gives everyone a chance to stretch their legs while still enjoying the animals.
If you’re visiting Hochatown with family, it’s definitely worth adding Beavers Bend Safari Park to your list. It’s simple, relaxed, and just plain fun — the kind of outing that ends up being one of the most memorable parts of the trip.
